From my own experience in New Orleans, major disasters accelerate trends that were established before the disaster, such as population loss.
A crisis can happen anywhere and to anyone. To the poor and to the waalthy. Katrina hit New Orleans when they were having a poputlation decrease, but 911 happened when New York had a huge population and they both had a major crisis and the pepole all had to suffer.
With the world growing bigger and bigger it leaves more people vulnerable to crises. Showing that more people are moving into bigger cities and leaving the land. Is it because we are growing to such a urban global community.
